What Does a Registry Cleaner Do?

Submitted by on Monday November 2, 2009 No Comments

The chances are that you’ve been advised to use a registry cleaner on your computer, but of course, if you’re not technically minded then there’s every chance that you’re not completely sure as to what a registry cleaner actually does. Believe it or not, but there are many people who don’t know what a registry cleaner does, so in this article we’ll try to explain the benefits of running a registry cleaning program in a non technical way.

It improves your PCs performance – over time, your Windows registry, which is like the brains and central nervous system of your computer, will become clogged up with obsolete and invalid entries. If your computer’s registry is clogged up with a bunch of unnecessary data, eventually it will cause your computer to become less efficient. By using a registry cleaner, you are essentially doing a bit of “spring cleaning” and removing redundant or outdated information from your Windows registry.

In a way, you can think about excess data in your registry like excess weight on a runner, or heavy clothing on a swimmer. If the runner removes his or her extra weight, or if the swimmer pulls off his or her jeans, socks, and sweater – they will be more efficient on the ground and in the water. Likewise, by removing the excess data from your PCs registry – you’re allowing it to run at an optimal state.

Additionally, registry cleaning software also repairs and prevents errors. Bear in mind that invalid and obsolete data which is stored in the windows registry will often do more than simply slow your system down. In fact, all that useless data can actually end up creating havoc when it comes to installing or uninstalling software programs. A poorly maintained registry is probably the number one cause for programs freezing and for computers crashing.

Bear in mind that the registry will store information regarding almost every program you have installed on your PC, and if any of that information is incorrect, or if any of it has become corrupted, it will cause errors to pop up. This is why registry cleaning software is so essential, in that it can help to prevent errors, and it can also repair existing errors.

Just as a motor vehicle requires regular maintenance in order for it to operate properly, so too does your computer. The good thing is that computer maintenance is certainly far cheaper than motor vehicle maintenance. Remember, you only need to purchase registry cleaning software once, and you can be rest assured that the software will pay for itself over a relatively short period of time.
