In addition to the  classes you’re also going to be required to take laboratory classes in order to master  techniques and first aid along with how to administer medicine.

 

Your best  bet to becoming a medical assistant is going to be a 2 year program. Medical assistant aren’t only going to be  working with doctors and clinical assistants, medical assistants may also be working  with podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and sometimes even optometrists. Ophthalmic  medical assistants may perform diagnostics tests, measure vision, apply dressings,  instruct patients on the care and usage of contacts, administer medication, maintain  equipment or assist the ophthalmologist during eye surgeries.

 

A Medical assistant may also be required to work directly with  an Optometrist to perform basic tests and assist the doctor during exams. Sometimes a pediatric medical assistant may directly assist the  doctor during surgeries. The medical assistant performs a wide variety of tasks in these  crucial times. Medical assistants are also required to manage the X-Ray machine and make sure  it’s working correctly while also examining castings of the feet.
