Shaving Shouldn’t Be Touched By Technology
There are certain daily chores that technology just can’t make better, smaller and faster. I can picture the look on your face reading the statement I just made, one of confiusion I would imagine. I have personally never been happy about the horrible task of shaving. Shaving would always result in cutting my face up, and the wonderful feeling of a brush fire on my face. My views all changed about six months ago, I was relaxing with my friend and walked by a store that captured my attention, the store was The Art of Shaving. I became interested with the realization that the daily ritual of shaving like my grandfather did, was still around!
I was very glad to stopped because, I left feeling well informed and content with my purchase of a classic shaving kit. The key thing to note is that my kit was void of a shaving razor, due to the fact that I already had one. As my interest with shaving grew, I quickly became aware that I grasped the overall concept right, but was missing the important smaller steps that would give me in a nicer, more pleasing shave. I soon became aware of the the four elements that are needed for a perfect shave, I found it comical that they were printed on the box!
While I invested a lot of time reading through forums and blogs, the overall consensus, which I happen to agree with, is that modern technology has not made shaving any better. Classic shaving needs to stay classic. The transition to plastic disposable razors, multi-blade razors, that they somehow seem to keep adding more and more blades too and shaving cream in a can, hasn’t made the daily chore for millions of men any better. The simple truth is that it has made it worse, shaving needs to return to its roots of being simplistic once more.
We are all different people in quit a few ways and one of the things that really calls my attention was that wet shaving can become very personal and unique to someone. You can choose from many styles of shaving creams, or soaps with scents and oils, you can chose the style of badger shaving brush that feels most comfortable in your hand, you can make a decision on countless styles and colors of safety razors or straight razors, what ever combo you believe gives you the comfortable experience is possible. There is no one size fits all shaving kit, classic shaving sets can be made however you decide.
The wet shaving kit I picked up simply got me started down a path of now enjoying the once dreaded chore of shaving.
