Pre-Owned Vehicles – Get The Convenience Of Private Transportation At A Lower Price

Submitted by on Sunday January 22, 2012 No Comments

Thinking about buying a vehicle as an addition or replacement to the ones you already have, or as a present for your high school graduate? Getting a used vehicle would be a sensible, practical option.  The reason for this recommendation is simple, the economic difficulties we face today dictates that we find ways to save money whenever we can, and getting a used car instead of buying a brand new one is one way to do just that. Buying a second-hand car provides you with the ease and comfort of having a private means of transport, for a considerably lower cash outlay. These vehicles can be bought from private parties, second-hand vehicle dealers, and from makers that sell certified pre-owned vehicles.

However, if you really want to get the best bang for buck your best bet would be from an auction, a Japanese car auction for instance.

Why Japan’s car auction in particular, you ask. For one, Japanese used cars have lower mileage. The reason for this is that locals don’t travel very long distances with their cars because road tolls are expensive.

Moreover, Japan has some of the fastest trains in the world and riding in them is preferred over using a private vehicle which in most cases would just meet congested traffic along the way. At the same time, those sold in Japanese car auctions are not superannuated, with most under 5 years old.  Japanese people aren’t keen on holding on to old vehicles since they would have to pay costly for costly maintenance jobs just so these vehicles get “shaken” approval.

When buying a used car, do not decide solely on cost. Not all cheap cars are good finds. Remember, the least expensive vehicles, are not always the best deals. Industry insiders suggest getting pre-owned vehicles that have not been used for more than five years, and have low mileage, typically not more than 155,000 miles. You need to inspect the vehicle too, checking not only for aesthetic damages, but also for signs that suggest that the car was not maintained properly and regularly. You can find a number of materials from the Web which details the things you need to check when inspecting a used vehicle, like tires with uneven wear and tear patterns, and busted dome lights. If you are buying from Japan car auction, be sure to read and understand the inspection report.

Furthermore, take the car for a spin, and see how it fares in different terrains and traffic situations. Be sure to review the car’s maintenance record and get a vehicle history report as well. The latter can be requested from NMVTIS-accredited agencies and this will give you information like if the car has been reported stolen, salvaged, or involved in an accident.
