It can be a little overwhelming to go shopping for a memory foam bed and mattress. There is such a wide array of terminology and choices that it can be hard to figure things out. The three most important things to look for include thickness, density, and temperature sensitivity.

Having some knowledge about each of these can help you choose the perfect memory foam product. Temperature sensitivity is not a feature on all memory foam mattresses. It is really one of the key elements of a memory foam product. It is really what makes memory foam so incredibly comfortable. If at all possible purchase a memory foam mattress that is temperature sensitive you will be very glad you did.

This features enables the mattress to absorb some of you body heat and soften up to support the key problem areas of your body. Look for a memory foam mattress topper with a thick layer of memory foam on the top of the mattress. It is best to have one with at least three and a half inches of memory foam. When the layer of memory foam is too thin the mattress is much less comfortable.

Density is another important thing to look when buying a memory foam mattress. The density of a memory foam mattress refers to the weight when measured in cubic feet. Many people have differing ideas as to the correct density for memory foam. It is common for retailers to attempt to sell you memory foam with a three pound density.

You will get much better support for your back, hips and shoulders with a mattress with a density of between 5.0 lbs and 5.9 lbs. Many find that products with a density greater than six pounds are not that comfortable. Only buy a memory foam product which includes a warranty. It is common for high quality products to include a warranty of around 20 to 25 years.
