The story follows that of the 1994 movie completely, however, the stage show itself is raised beyond the movie by the extravagant production. Young lion prince Simba is born and his uncle Scar loses his place as 2nd in line to the throne. Scar plans to kill the lion king Mufasa Simba’s father, and Simba himself and become king by means of elimination. Simba manages to survive the plan towards him, alas his father appears not to, which pushes Simba out of the kingdom. The Lion King is an incredibly long running Westend present and is on at the Lyceum Theatre on Wellington Street. Astonishingly the musical has run very successfully for eleven years.
