Getting Fit with a Proper Fitness Routine

Submitted by on Thursday December 2, 2010 No Comments

Getting fit and healthy is more complicated than starting to exercise a few times a week. Of course exercise is still important. Your body needs exercise to keep its muscles and joints working correctly. The truth is that real fitness involves making healthy lifestyle choices too. There is more to truly being fit than only working out. Obviously developing a regular workout routine is also important. The good news is that anybody can get fit and work out. Even if you haven’t ever worked out before, you can still put together a fitness regimen that will better your health and increase your athleticism. Here are some ideas to help you out.

For a great workout and fitness program I highly recommend the Turbulence Training Program by Craig Ballantyne. Craig has put together a fantastic workout system for both men and women and is designed to produce results that last.

Make healthy lifestyle choices. Quit smoking. Pare down your booze. Smoking and drinking are horrible habits anyway but if you continue to do them while you try to get fit you will probably find that you are going nowhere fast. Smoking wreaks havoc on your lungs and impedes your ability to properly exercise each day. Drinking is awful both for your liver and your energy levels.

Beyond the harm, alcoholic beverages are notorious for being loaded with calories. You could spend your whole workout working off the calories you ingested with your booze. Why hinder yourself like that?

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. You need to remember this fact especially if your primary goal is weight loss.

It is entirely possible to lose inches without losing a single pound–especially when you exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet. This is because your fat cells are shrinking while your muscles are increasing and getting stronger. Watch your measurements closely as you work out and increase your fitness. You might discover that your weight stays about the same while your pants size drops a lot! You need to remember this so that you don’t get discouraged while you work on getting fit.

I hate battling belly fat, but once the results start showing I can’t help but want more.

Take part in an athletic activity that you like. Dance classes are a great way to burn off calories as well as give you a workout. Join a water aerobics class. Take up hiking and rock climbing. These are all exercises that people find fun and increase one’s fitness level. You are more likely to get fit if you find an exercise routine that is fun. If you do not like your exercise routine you will probably find a lot of reasons to stop doing it. How productive will that be? Who says that getting fit can’t be fun?

You need to realize that honest to goodness fitness is a whole body and whole mind idea.

There is more to true fitness than exercising a few times a week. Of course those few exercise routines are better than doing nothing! Starting slowly and working your way up to regular exercise routines is a great way to start getting fit. If you pair this with a healthy diet and wise lifestyle choices, you could be well on your way to total body fitness in no time!
