Fold’N'Stow vs LEVO Book Stand Designs

Submitted by on Wednesday January 26, 2011 No Comments

A book stand is a amazing aid for any true lover of books. Currently available designs vary from straight forward wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at user selectable angles on just about any flat surface, to the ultimately sophisticated LEVO Bookholder which embraces a book in either a floor stand design or a clamp-on design that easily fastens to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand designs function well with hard cover books, but they also can function very well with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders such as an OpenPage.

The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds compactly and is sold with it’s own plastic pouch punched for easy use in a 3 ring binder. It may be used on a counter top for cook books, or atop any desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders extend out from the back plane to hold the covers and open pages of your book, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books may be readily accommodated. The back plane has horizontal pieces that can be raised or lowered to vary the angle at which the book is held relative the substrate.

The LEVO’s most popular book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted rolling base for ease of movement just about anywhere. Wherever you position it, the LEVO can hold your book in just about any position. Incorporating a bookboard that swings, tilts, cants, yaws and rotates into virtually any position, and coupled with a book mounting mechanism that will securely hold your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO allows for totally hand-free reading from just about any position.

The LEVO Clamp On design is just as handy as its floor standing sibling, but incorporates a clamp that safely holds just about any table, desk, work bench, counter top or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers identical movements as the floor model, without the degree of telescoping movements vertically. By keeping your book or other reading materials off the surface to which it is attached, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted rolling base while freeing up valuable work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.

Even though there are other book stand designs currently available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO designs have withstood the test of time and function well under heavy use.
