Do Some Planning About Your Hotel Choice When Going To See Destinations On Your Southern California Vacation

If you have not taken a long trip by Amtrak  for a vacation, the time may have come to think about it. The national train network makes it possible to get around from most major cities. Getting there can be half the fun on some of the more scenic routes.

Of all the many great vacation destinations accessible by train, San Diego is in the top echelon.  It is easy to take a train to the historic train depot near downtown and then use public transit for getting around locally; one option is to ride the train up north to several Legoland hotels.  Compared to other parts of Southern California, San Diego is in fact comparatively close together. You can find your way to a lot of vacation attractions by walking if you enjoy that.

Perhaps you plan to spend some time on this vacation at a theme park that offers thrill rides.  I’m talking about Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain (aka Magic Mountain to the locals). As a means to compete more effectively with the Disneyland Resort, one Southern California vacation  writer notes that these two theme parks have invested a tremendous amount of cash in developing their thrill rides over the years.

Magic Mountain is crazy with wild coasters; the place is lousy with thrill rides. Check out the SoCal Vacation Guru for more information about the park, as there’s lots more to do there besides roller coasters (for the rest of your group who may not be coaster fanatics).

The second Southern California theme park with a strong emphasis on roller coasters is Knott’s Berry Farm, although it too offers many activities such as Ghost Town. My daughter worked on the new Silver Bullet ride and she says that is one of several coasters that will really help you lose your dinner.

The first place we think of is Disneyland, the hangout for Mickey, Donald and all their buddies. There are a few really good websites with helpful information about planning a Disneyland vacation as well as if you plan to visit any of the nearby Knott’s Berry Farm hotels. Nobody has done a better job of breathing life into fictional characters than the Disney folks.

Your next stop would be Universal Studios Hollywood and the many TV and movie stars such as Betty Boop, the Hulk, Batman and Spiderman, joined most recently by Homer Simpson and his wonderful family. Pick up some useful information and tips about Universal Studios and other southern California hotels from the SoCal Vacation Guru.

It doesn’t matter how you plan to spend your vacation, it is of great importance to find the right hotel.  You will spend way more time than you expected traveling around Southern California if you goof up the selection of your hotel.  That would be valuable time to waste since you only have so long for your vacation.
